Little Helper out of the blue asked if we could go to the range. My question to her was, "What's taking you song long? Let's get going!" She shot the first shot out of her Savage Axis .243 a few years ago, but was gun shy to squeeze the trigger again until today. I edited out a bit of her psyching herself up until she finally pulls the trigger in the first clip, and you can kind of hear her pus...

Little Helper's First Youth Field Day

I've had videos of our local Youth Field Day in years past from covering it on the ambulance, but this was Little Helper's first year to attend as well as my first year to be a parent. I am excited for this event every year like it is my first time. She did well and enjoyed herself a lot.

your raised garden is amazing, an empty barrel n here is $35 i would like to use about 10 to build a boat
I sell these whole barrels as a side hustle in the spring. I don't remember how many this one guy got this year, but he made 4 trips to keep getting more to build a boat dock. I'm thinking about seeing how a "garden kit" like our garden would sell next year. Undecided.
I sell mine for $25, but I bump them up a little to cover my gas and time to make a 3 hour round trip to get each load.
LOVE IT

She made me happy that she mustered up the courage to squeeze the trigger again on her hunting riffle after she scared herself a few years ago. If you listen closely after her first shot, you can hear her exhale quickly like a "Hmmm. I did it!" Now it's off to the deer blind in a few months... If she gets behind the riffle with one in her sights and freezes, I'll still take it as a Dad win...baby steps. She's been out with me as an "unlicensed observer" in PA. I got one the first day that she went back to school a few years ago, and she said "I wish I would have been there." She wanted to pray for the deer for giving his life for us when I brought him home, so we did. I do for every one when they fall anyway, but she wanted to pray for him so we did. She has known where the meat on her plate comes from since she was old enough to understand. Gen 9:3
Happy Independence Day! A lot of growing up for little helper in the time I have known you!
No kidding!!! I feel like I just brought them home from the hospital last week. It won't be too long that I am sitting in the passenger seat teaching her how to drive. It may be before she's legal though ;-)
243...Fun Caliber...=)
They're all fun, lol!
MERICA!
Good shooting! I always liked steel as it is encouraging to hear it ring. Or sticks and rocks on the backstop so you could see how you missed right away. Thank you for sharing this with us, Kevin. Stay safe and stay cool
This footage is her just getting comfortable behind it again. She squeezed her true first shot a few years ago, but the bigger bark than her 22 scared her until this day. It isn't even truly sighted in yet, but that's a good reason to go back to the range, lol!

Thank you. She likes shooting, but her 243 scared her a few years ago when she squeezed off her true first shot out of it. Now she wants to go hunting. Gen 9:3
Happy independence day 🎉👍🏼
Miss Peggy!!! So good so hear from you. How are things with you?
@EMTRailfan good good. Learning to live life differently. Back to work full time for now. I've been spying here n there on your channel 😊

Awesome Brother always good to see little helper on the range 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
She wants me to take her hunting now so SHE can be the one behind the rifle. There may be more range footage first though...
@@EMTRailfan That's great to hear
Happy Independence Day
Thanks Jeff. Happy 5th of July to you too. I worked yesterday, and couldn't keep up in between trips, lol!
Camera down! 😂 I could take lessons from your daughter! 😂 Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸
It was a fun time. This is a re-upload for #LetFreedomRing, but the footage is from her first time shooting her 243 since her actual first shot a few years ago that scared her. Now she wants me to take her hunting so SHE can be the one behind the rifle. With her being a mentor hunter, I can't carry my own rifle too here in PA. She's been out with me a few seasons just as an observer, but I never got to harvest one on a day that she was with me.
@@EMTRailfan hopefully this will be the year!
Very cool garden! Love seeing what several bucket beds look like together!
Thank you. You can take most pallets that have the U-shaped side pockets cut out for forklifts to hold the barrels too, but I have a small yard and didn't want 2 barrel clusters scattered about, taking up more real estate and wanted to keep it as compact as I could.

Saw your channel from Jane. Are you an EMT? I have been one for 30+years nice to meet ya
Yes I am. Been so since 1995 starting as a volunteer, and then jumping in career FT+. I'm still on our VFD's roster, but I don't do much with them anymore other than help work our gun raffle every year. Had a higher priority born going on 12 years ago now that needed my time. I may get back into it again, but now my age is telling me that there are younger guys that are more gungho than me, lol!

Looks good, Kevin! My poor garden is way behind yours. Thank you for sharing it with us. Stay safe and stay cool
As I grow older, I am finding gratitude in grow/hunting and preserving our own food, knowing that our hands are the only hands to have touched it from "field to fork".
Gosh I so love those barrels! Your garden looks amazing! Oh darn sorry about the tomatoes. I used to have to put sugar in the sauce for the Boss. He’d get indigestion really bad otherwise.
We'll see how much the garden expands next year, lol! These barrels all had soy sauce in them, so no concerns of poison. I love a freshly picked tomato sandwich.
Oh yeah! That’s awesome brother! 👍🏻
Thank ya Sir!!!
Looking Good Brother 👊😎🇺🇸
Thanks Boss!
Fried green tomato's
I love them!
Your garden looks amazing! We can't grow much outside here.
Thank you. We have a decent growing season here.

Thanks Michael. There is so much gratification in knowing that your hands are the only hands to have touched your food from "field" to plate whether herb or meat. Gen 9:3
wow i love that elevated garden, co cool
great video that was a lot of hard work, great looking blade, take care
Thanks Dan. I forged the railroad spike knife at the end of the video earlier in the day. All 3 of us were scheduled at that time, but LH woke up not feeling well, so I flew solo and went back to the room. She felt better later in the day, so we went back in hopes that they could squeeze her in, and they did. Not that I was glad that she didn't feel well that morning, but I am glad that it worked out that way so I could watch her, and not be making my knife at the same time and not able to watch.
Very cool, thanks for sharing YAH bless brother !
Thanks Mr. Michael. Yahweh is the King of not only Isreal, but the true King of the world...
Now that is awesome what an experience for her 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It sure was, for me too. LH wasn't feeling well when we were all scheduled to make knives, so I flew solo. I got back to the room, and she felt better later, so we went to watch others forge their knives, and they worked her in as a "walk-in". Not that I'm glad that she didn't feel well, but I'm glad that it worked out that way, because I probably wouldn't have been able to watch her forge her own knife if I was making mine at the same time. As far as the experience, if anyone is vacationing in The Smokies, do this!!!
What a great experience for LH. We might see her on an episode of Forged in Fire in a few years 🗡👍

Is there an advantage to having your garden in buckets and barrels? I would assume having it raised makes it easier to tend to or harvest
OK I think you just answered my question as I watched the rest of the video
I'm not sure that I did. You are correct on one aspect. I was going to mention why we went with raised containers like this in a future update video. A few days later, I couldn't remember what I wanted to mention. Thanks for reminding me, lol!!! Stay tuned ;-)
Nice setup , thanks for sharing YAH bless !
"Without a doubt, Yahweh surrounded them, enfolded them, shielded them." Thanks for stopping by Mr. Michael.
amazing
wow what an amazing water system, great job
Thank Dan. It's been a work in progress and learning experience. I think that I have it dialed in for me pretty good now. With the old system, I had to fully take it out of service and dismantle it before winter so it wouldn't freeze and break. Now I just leave that main valve open so it doesn't fill and drain what's in it. I still have storage in the basement, so if we get a warm stretch in the winter and it rains, I can just close the system up to catch and transfer it inside, and then drain what's left for when it gets cold again.
i love that barrel garden, i wish i could build a boat from barrels a barrel here costs $30 each
Outstanding wtg thank you for sharing stay safe and God Bless much love and respect always
Thank you Miss Ali.
Thank you for sharing this with us, Kevin. Stay safe and stay cool
Thanks for coming along Shawn. She is an amazing young lady.
Awesome ... I see she has move up from .22lr!
Good job
Thank Michael. She made me proud. She scared herself with the bark compared to her 22 a few years ago, and hasn't been able to squeeze that trigger since.
👍👍
You know that I can watch the Littles on the range all day. Great job Rail 🍻
Thanks Pastor. After she let the bark scare her a few years ago, I couldn't have been more proud when the thunder let loose. I was just getting ready to tell her to safe it up and take a breather when she squeezed that first one off. If you listen carefully, you can hear her let out a sigh. She said that it was because she made it out to be worse than it really was a few years ago. Now she's talking about maybe putting a deer into her scope this coming season.
Awesome . Took my daughter a while to get back on the horse . Turns out it wasnt the recoil , it was the concussion that was bothering her . Now she is in the 500 yard club with her Ruger American .308.
That's awesome. I "misspoke" when I edited the text in. Her .243 is a Savage Axis. Her .22 is the Ruger American. Now she talking about maybe putting a deer into her scope this coming season.
@@EMTRailfan Awesome
good to see shes getting training
Thanks Drew. The bark scared her a few years ago and she hasn't been able to squeeze the trigger again until now. If you listen carefully right after her first shot, you can hear a sigh from her. She said that it was because it wasn't as bad as she made it to be a few years ago. Now she's talking of putting a deer into her scope this coming season.
Some good ideas there.
Thanks Steve. It seems to be a pretty good system now. I still only have all of the connections friction-fit. Nothing is glued, and not being pressurized, I haven't noticed any significant leaks to compromise filling the tank.
@@EMTRailfan Friction fit is great for testing . when I set up im going to run it through sand and gravel first to get most of the Bird crap and pollen out . Something easy to replace . maybe a rack and some kind of a removable tray.
Lookin good
Thanks Mr. Don.
